GEORGE TOWN CITY, THE CAPITAL OF PENANG

 

George Town, located on the north-east coast of Penang Island, is the capital of Penang, a relatively small state in Malaysia. The capital city was named after King George III of Britain. The inner city of GeorgeTown had been listed in the UNESCO World Heritage Listing on 7th July, 2008. Since being listed as a UNESCO HERITAGE SITE, Georgetown Festival was initiated for celebration every year, focusing on the criteria of tangible and intangible heritage, multi-ethnic culture and unique architectural landscape.
