Komtar is Kompleks Tun Abdul Razak in Georgetown, Penang

KOMTAR (abbreviated from Kompleks Tun Abdul Razak)

This complex, named after the late Prime Minister when built in 1978, is a shopping mall, business hub and house of the state government. Komtar is a 65-Storey building and the tallest in Penang. It is a famous Penang's iconic landmark and will help you to find your way back if you lost your way in the city. From here the first-time visitor will gain a deeper understanding into the lifestyles of Penang.  Visitors are allowed to go up to the 60th floor 'Komtar Deck' where you can get a complete 360 degrees panoramic view of George Town city in Penang.

GURNEY DRIVE

Located at the seafront with nice sandy beach and cool breeze, high rise luxurious living apartments, open air hawker food court, 4-star hotels, and an upscale shopping mall of GURNEY PLAZA where you can find branded items.  A 1-stop centre for all kinds of delicious cuisine, from hawker to restaurant food. A number of the old shops had switched to wholesalers trading as most locals prefer to shop in 1-stop shopping malls now. This part of the city has the most jewellery shops selling genuine 24K gold jewelleries from local production.  You get more variety choices at prices lower than else where as Penang is also an exporter for such valuable items.  There are also two antique shops located at the end part of the road, after passing through the rows of jewellery shops.

 

CHULIA STREET ( Lebuh Chulia )

The place is well known among backpack visitors for providing convenient facilities like low cost motel accommodation, public bus transport, food, money changers, pubs and motorbike rentals.

 

LITTLE INDIA

Located in the area surrounding Lebuh Pasar, Lebuh Queen, Lebuh King and Lebuh Penang.  This is a microcosm reflecting the Indian community's way of life and taste.
