Little India is a designated area for Indian retailers within the core zone of Georgetown Heritage city. The place is located within the surrounding roads of Lebuh Pasar, Lebuh Queen, Lebuh King and Lebuh Penang. The trading centre is also near to Weld Quay seafront region in Georgetown.  Indian religious merchandises, fashion, trinkets, spicy cuisine, exotic spices, musical and various foodstuff can be bought from here. The heritage Sri Mahamariamman Hindu Temple is located nearby at Lebuh Queen.

 
Little India is the Indian trading centre in Penang Little India in Penang takes on a festive atmosphere every year when the place is crowded with shoppers in preparations for Deepavali celebration. DEEPAVALI festival is celebrated by all the Hindus and Sikhs in Malaysia, and oil lamps are lighted in the homes to signify victory over the evils according to Hindu belief.

Indian shoppers can be seen picking out the latest designs of the year, such as the Anarkali suit, Mankatha and sequined sarees, netted Punjabi suits and kurti tops with matching legging pants for ladies. Kurta tops and sherwanis are more popular among the men. During the festive period the road will be congested with many temporary roadside stalls and may be rather difficult to walk safely.

Visitors can either walk freely around the market place or take a leisure ride on the heritage trishaw and shooting interesting scenes around Little India.
